Mid-Autumn Festival @ The Gardens 2013

I have a great night at Gardens by the Bay today! Since Mid-Autumn Festival is coming, the gardens were lit up by beautifully crafted lanterns of different themes and characters and as usual, I happily snapped many photos. The gardens were surprisingly crowded on a weekday though.

Mini Jurassic Park: The dinosaurs can waver and roar mildly.

Chinese Opera: They have a couple of these faces along the walkway and look rather scary at night.

Birds and Insects Paradise:

Happy Ants:

Tired Old Tree - with eyes dropping

3 little pigs with big bad wolf.

 Traditional wedding:

 Lion Dance:

 Multi-racial:

World of Fairy Tales:

Sotong frog face. This frog was neglected because everybody was snapping pics of everything else except this poor frog.

It's a tiring day. Time to hit the sack.

Care Shop De Cafe

Taken from http://careshopdecafe.com
This is the place I have my dinner on a Friday night! The location is quite off - there are no shopping centre nearby and is located on the ground floor of an office building. However, they serve really yummy food at an affordable price.

The place was very empty on a Friday night. There was a pool table at the side as well.
We took quite some time looking through the menu because there are just so many options to choose from ranging from sandwiches, burgers, western to even Asian food.

Spicy Chicken Wing (100cc). They have it in different level of spiciness (come in 6 or 12 pieces) The price increase with the level of spiciness. 100cc is just nice for me. Any spicier, you may not be able to enjoy the taste of the chicken. We are not able to finish this though.

Seafood Pasta - Taste mediocre. Seafood were fresh though. The whole plate was whipped up fast. I guess he was really hungry.

Chicken Chop with hollandaise sauce. They were generous with the portion. Chicken was tender and meaty enough to make you feel satisfied. Certainly busted my small tummy.

Lava Cake - This is the best lava cake I ever tried! And it is only $8.80++! The chocolate was thick and you can see the chocolate flow out of the cake when you cut it open. And no, we did not ask for any add-on. The whole set comes like this - with the cookies and berry yogurt and the one scoop of vanilla ice cream. If only they are located at a more centralised area,  I can have this every week!

Groupon: Ah Yat Dim Sum

We bought the Groupon for Dim Sum at Ah Yat Abalone Forum Restaurant located at Hotel Grand Pacific! This was my second time there. They have the freshest prawn. If only they have dessert under the list of items then that will be perfect:)

I called and reserved a table one month in advance as prior experience shows that they are always packed. The staffs distinguished those who purchased the Groupon from the rest who ordered from their ala-carte menu by ushering us to the second floor.

We, 4 girlies, actually finished all the food below that afternoon.

Abit too sweet for my liking but the rest of the girls loved it.

With the groupon, each pay only $29.20 for this:)

After the heavy lunch, we walked to Bugis and saw a long queue forming at The BlackBall. Since some of them did not try it before, we ordered 2 of it to share after a short shopping spree at Bugis Street. I guess we need to have this to compensate for our dessert shortfall at lunch.

Luk Yu Teahouse & Restaurant

I don't really fussy Chinese cuisine so it amused me when the boy made a reservation at a Chinese restaurant on a Friday evening -.-

Anyway, dinner was at Luk Yu Teahouse & Restaurant @ Chinatown Point.
We ordered the 6 courses set menu for 2.

Shark's Fin Soup - The broth was thick and they were generous with the Shark's Fin as well

Icy Pig Trotter with Char Siew - This is my first time I see pig trotter served cold. They tasted naturally good too

Fried cod fish with crispy noodle - I would prefer if the sauce was served separately from the fish

Healthy Veggies

Noodle with prawn - Prawn was not so fresh but the noodle was good

Almond Tea - This ends the delightful dinner

The dinner came up to $90 for 2 which is very value-for-money. Would love to visit Luk Yu again for their dim sums which are only available during the day.

Jump on a Saturday! + Symmetry:(

JUMP - Comic Martial Arts Performance 2013

This is the must-see-all-time-favourite show I watched today at RWS!
It's a must watch! Very entertaining and funny!

JUMP 2013

Synopsis (extracted from Sistic):
This is a story of a Korean family well-versed in martial arts, with a crotchety grandfather who enjoys nothing more than challenging the rest of the family to martial arts showdowns. The family members use their expertise to repel two burglars who break into their house, to hilarious effect -- showing off their extensive training in martial arts, acrobatics, gymnastics, as well as comic acting all at the same time.

But....... it will probably be too late for you to buy the tickets now (if you have not done so) since they only scheduled 4 shows for the year and the last show will be tomorrow:p

The boy cleverly bought the tickets when there is a 1for1 promo:) so we get to sit at Cat1 seat for half the price!

JUMP 2013:))

After the show, early dinner was at Symmetry. We took bus 61 and the ride took only around 30 minutes. Dinner was disappointing though - very disappointing in fact.

The cozy and quaint café was tucked at a corner at the end of a row of shophouses. The place was not fully occupied when we reached but understand that many seats have been reserved. Hence, we have to take the outdoor seats.

Dinner was 1 mains, 2 sides, 2 drinks. Apparently, the symmetry beef burger was out of stock for the evening so we ordered another side to replace it.

Mains: Pork Cheeks Pasta

The pork cheeks has a very strong porky smell - not too bad - but after one piece I feel like I have enough of it. The cream pasta with mushrooms tasted bland. Serving was small too but you wouldn't want more of it - because the dish was pretty 'gelat'

Pork Cheeks Pasta - $26
Side dish: Asparagus Soldiers

Much effort is put on the presentation of this dish (in fact for many of their other dishes too). The asparagus tasted yummy with the fried 'popiah' skin wrapped around it - there was a tinge of truffle smell. The 'chew' poached egg which was served on a pretty egg cup tasted decent.
Asparagus Soldiers ($16)

Side dish: Prawn Popcorn

This dish was served on a wooden board with wasabi sauce. It tasted like those finger foods you can find in NTUC  - maybe with abitttt more prawn.
Prawn Popcorn ($16)
Drinks: Mocha + Cappuccino

Good quality coffees with latteart:)

Mocha + Cappuccino ($5.50 each)

Total bill came up to $81.20 - very much overpriced for the quality of the food and the place was cramp indoor, hot outdoor. Would I return? Noooo.. at least not for dinner.

:)
